New Zealand Punakaiki

We left Westport and made our way down the coast to Punakaiki, home of the Pancake Rocks. We made it there pretty early and the rocks were spectacular, the coastal area around the rocks even more so.

We had an agenda today though, so we had to move on.

New Zealand: Fox Glacier and Wanaka 2

It fulfilled my image of a glacier. We drove to a nearby viewing area of Mt. Cook and then we were on the road again (this is our theme song, we sing it on a regular basis) headed to the town of Wanaka. We stopped in the town of Haast Junction for lunch and Matt mistakenly ordered a "whitebait" sandwich which turned out to be the world's most expensive fried egg sandwich.

Papua 785

As of the early 21st century hundreds of Indigenous—or Papuan—peoples together account for a majority of the province’s population. The remainder consists of immigrants, largely from Celebes (Sulawesi), Java, and the Moluccas. The Indigenous groups speak numerous Papuan languages, and most others speak Austronesian languages. The bulk of the population is Christian (primarily Protestant); Muslims make up the largest religious minority. Local religions are practiced by some of the Papuan communities.
